Hello and welcome! I’m Tiffany, an Orange County native with an Australian Labradoodle named Oiler (explanation for his name later). Figuring out where dogs are welcome… really welcome… is often a challenge. The meaning of “dog-friendly” means something different to everyone. I’ve found most places are “dog-tolerant,” which is nice, but it would be helpful to know that ahead of time. There’s a huge difference and knowing before you arrive means you can plan accordingly, or pick a different venue. So, I decided to share my experiences dining out with dogs.

As for his name, Oiler’s dad (my fiancé) is from New Brunswick, Canada, and has been a diehard Edmonton Oilers fan since he was nine years old. Naming our pup felt like the perfect way to make it official.
Finding truly dog-friendly restaurants can feel like a guessing game. One place’s idea of “dog-friendly” is a crowded patio with no shade, while another rolls out water bowls, treats, and a warm welcome for your pup. Whether you’re a local looking for new spots, a dog parent who hates leaving their best friend behind, or a traveler exploring the area with your dog in tow, knowing where you’re actually welcome matters.
Through Paws Permitted, I’ve rounded up the best dog-friendly restaurants in Orange County, breaking down what makes each one worth visiting…. not just for your dog, but for you too. From relaxed patios and attentive staff to space, shade, and overall vibe, these are the places where dogs aren’t just allowed; they’re genuinely welcome.
For new dog parents, dining out with a pup may seem daunting. Stick around for tips and tricks to help you navigate and be pawsitive citizens. Speaking of pawsitive citizens, I also hope to inspire fellow pet parents to represent! Not everyone has the same affinity for dogs as you and I. We have a responsibility to ensure our pups are prepared for the adventure of dining out — for their safety, for everyone else’s experience, and so we’re welcome to return.
Why should you listen to me? Animals are my passion, with dogs being my favorite domestic option. Having lived most of my life in Southern California with several dogs, I’ve always enjoyed bringing my pups along to brunch, lunch, a wine bar, dinner, or ice cream. I’m also particular, thorough, and transparent — any location featured has been visited for the full experience by me and Oiler. No crowdsourcing, no borrowing content from other sites or apps. My reviews are unfiltered and not influenced by owners or staff of the establishments I visit. Most of the time, they have no idea I’m reviewing them until after the review is written.
While my primary purpose is to map out where you can dine with your dogs, I’ll occasionally recommend pet products and services I’ve found real value in.
Last, I’m a huge advocate for adoption (no judgment if you didn’t rescue). I’ve volunteered with a few reputable rescues over the years and will periodically dedicate posts and space on this site to them.
I sincerely appreciate your visit, and I welcome your recommendations and suggestions for places to check out!
Woofs & Hugs! Tiffany & Oiler
